Your guide on how to treat your new tattoo while it heales
– Always wash your hands before touching your tattoo!
For Dermalize tattoo bandage/second skin: The bandage is breathable and protects your new tattoo the first days. Remove the bandage within 2-5 days, dissolve the bandage in lukewarm water and perfume free soap (possibly in the shower) and gently remove the bandage. Gently wash your tattoo only using your hands. Dip the tattoo dry with a paper towel, let it air dry for 1 min and apply a thin layer of ointment.
Note: If there is still clue from the bandage stuck on your tattoo after removel, apply a layer of coconut oil and let it settle some minutes before rinsing again with lukewarm water and perfumefree soap
Liquid spraybandage: The bandage will dissolve during your showers the next days. (lukewarm water and perfume free soap) Gently wash your tattoo only using your hands. Dip the tattoo dry with a paper towel, let it air dry for 1 min and apply a thin layer of ointment
Ointment: I recommend using Panthenol ointment – It is available in most pharmaceutical stores. Always use clean hands. Be sure to rub the ointment on so it is not greasy. Ointment 3-5 times daily as needed.
The first 3 days: Wash your tattoo with a perfume-free liquid soap 2 times a day for the first 3 days. Clean hands of course. Be gentle, do not use a washcloth or anything that may affect the skin of your tattoo. Use only your hands. Gently pat / dab your tattoo dry with a paper towel.
After day 4-5: In 4-5 days, your tattoo will start to peel and itch. This is normal! Do not peel on the skin. Continue using Pantothenol Ointment. Keep the tattoo clean and well treated with ointment, it must not dry out.
AVOID the following while your tattoo heals: Do not peel, itch, rub or irritate your tattoo. You can take a shower, but avoid your tattoo being exposed to too much water for 2 weeks. No swimming, soaking or hot tub. No sauna. Do not wear abrasive materials, jewelry, or shoes that may rub against your tattoo. Do not wear wool directly on the bare tattoo as long as it has not healed properly. The woolly hairs may penetrate the wound and cause an infection. Dont let anyone touch your tattoo unless they wash their hands first. Take care of exercise equipment, wash it well before use. Do not expose your tattoo to direct sun before it is healed. After healing i recommend to use sunblock if exposed to direct sun, the first year.
Wear clean, soft clothing over your tattoo for the first 2 weeks
After one ore two weeks you tattoo has healed and within the following months it will settle even further into the skin. You and your tattoo will become one. ~
